The Photographer is booked, the dress and make up are done, everyone is looking stunning and then the rain comes! Any wedding in the UK at any time of year faces the real likelihood that it may rain. All those planned for amazing pictures of you all basking in gentle sunshine are dashed.
Well the good news is the photographer is waterproof but the bad news is your outfits, hair and makeup are not. So what to do?
Any good photographer should have a backup plan for rainy day photographs. Even if they have not previously visited the location (and ideally they will have) they can research on Google maps or wedding venue websites. They should have a plan for where good photos can be captured with great backdrops and generous light and most importantly sheltered from the rain.
Some of my all time favourite photographs have been captured in the rain or just after it has stopped. You get great reflections and the light bounces around causing well taken photographs to look fantastic.
Doorways, windows and verandas also offer the chance to get natural light in the most flattering way.
Modern cameras can make the most of even the darkest of venues, and when you add flash and lights there is always a way to get those stunning photos you have been dreaming of.
So do not worry about the rain, the wedding day and the memories will go ahead as planned. Nothing will stop you from both having the most amazing day of your life.
